Here's to the Presidents!

Just thought I would give you a few random facts, to honor those who have led this great country.

Abraham Lincoln was shot with a Derringer.

In 1849, David Atchison became President of the United States for just one day, and he spent most of the day sleeping.

George Washington grew marijuana in his garden.

Upon the death of F.D. Roosevelt, Harry S Truman became the President of America on 12 April 1945. The initial S in the middle of his name doesn't in fact mean anything. Both his grandfathers had names beginning with 'S', and so Truman's mother didn't want to disappoint either of them.

Abraham Lincoln is the only U.S. president who was also a licensed bartender. He was co-owner of Berry and Lincoln, a saloon in Springfield, Illinois.

“Teddy Bears” were so named when Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt (1858-1919) refused to shoot a small bear cub one day. The incident was reported in the news, which inspired a toy manufacture to come out with the cute stuffed animals.

Six presidents were named James: Madison, Monroe, Polk, Buchanan, Garfield, and Carter.

James Earl “Jimmy” Carter was the first president to be born in a hospital.

Every member of Teddy Roosevelt’s family owned a pair of stilts, including the first lady.

George Washington made the shortest inauguration speech on record—133 words and less than two minutes long.

John Quincy Adams would often skinny dip in the Potomac River.

James Monroe once chased his Secretary of State from the White House with a pair of fire tongs.

George H.W. Bush played first base on the Yale University team that twice reached the finals of the College World Series.

Andrew Jackson was the only president to ever kill a man in a duel.

President Reagan loved jelly beans and used to keep a bowl of them on his desk. His nickname was Dutch.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt's mother forced him to wear dress until he was five years old.

Franklin Pierce was arrested for running over a woman while driving his carriage in Washington, DC. The charges were later dropped.

Warren G. Harding once lost all the White House china gambling, on one hand of cards.

Benjamin Harrison was so afraid of electric lights that he used to have White House staff turn them on and off.

Man, I love our country.

hope you got a good laugh out of some of these like I did.

-Thank you google and stumbleupon for these amazing facts.

I know..

I have the best boyfriend. In the whole world. (Warning: This may get a little cheesy. skip down a few paragraphs if you don't want to read this part)

He just came over to bring me some dirty laundry since I am planning on doing a load tonight. We were sitting there discussing his hair. I want to cut it, but he doesn't wanna be the one I practice on. He exclaimed "That's why you have kids! You can practice on them and they don't care." At this I got a little upset. Not upset enough to cry, just bothered. But then I burst into tears! hahahaha I am laughing now...but at that point I was mad at myself for crying over something so stupid, which only made more tears come out. Keith just looked at me. Horribly confused. Something like, "Are you crying?!? aww don't cry!" came out of his mouth and he wiped my cheeks. I then got mad because, again, there was NO reason to be crying and I didn't want him to feel bad about it. So I shoved his hand away. He responded with, "I am gunna leave, feel better dear" and he walked out.

Wait, he walked out?!

I was a little mad that he left! haha (now, I understand why guys get so confused) I wanted him to leave me alone and when he did, I got upset! I don't even get myself sometimes. Probably 5 minutes later I got a text message telling me to go out to the parking lot (from keith). So I went. He pulled up, candy bar in hand, and a big smile on his face. He definitely knows how to make things better...
Chocolate.

So that's it. He is the best. Little things like this make me grateful to have someone like him in my life. I am lucky he has stuck around to put up with me! He always knows what will make me feel better, even when neither one of us knows whats wrong with me. I blame my period for these emotions. TWO whole weeks of unexplained tears. (see previous post for more info)

Oh, well.
It's almost over. haha. til next month.

Anyway, this month has been insane. So much homework to do! I don't remember it being like this last winter (oh, wait...)
I am supposed to be doing hw right now actually...

I am doing well though. Classes are going well, good grades, fun people, wonderful teachers. Good roommates, private room, great boyfriend, my own food, and Valentine's Day music!
Life in general is just perfect.

Love you all. sorry for the boring post. I will get pics up here on Sunday.

ciao!

Today

was just one of those days.

Nothing went terribly wrong (yet. I am going to take a test soon), but nothing has gone terribly right either. A bleeeeh day, if I can call it that.

you all know what I am talking about.

We all have them. Days you wish would end, but won't. This day has probably been the longest one this semester and it is not even CLOSE to being over (the day that is).

I really am not crazy. I swear. But it is one of those days where you just want to cry about EVERYTHING. haha and I am not kidding about that either. My sandwich takes too long to cook, so what do I do? Cry. duuuh. I daydream about happy things, what do I do? Cry. I don't have a pencil to take my test with? better cry some more! I cried about things I have absolutely no power over changing (like the weather outside, the clothes I wore yesterday, etc)

This all happened today by the way.
something is wrong here.....

I must be starting my period soon.
that makes sense.
(at least its wrapped in gold, right?)

Sorry to those (the men who read this) who I may have just grossed out but you should know, it is NOT always easy being a girl. So be nice to us, all the time :) even though it is called mother natures "present," it is not literally a present. Nice try.

I am definitely starting my period soon. hahaha. at least I can still laugh at myself for being absolutely ridiculous.

Just thought I would share

that it is exactly 0˚ outside and it is going to get a lot colder. -16˚, to be exact. Wanna know what it says on weatherchannel.com about the temperature for tonight...it says "bitterly cold." They couldn't be more right about that.

Thought everyone should know that. oh, and the high tomorrow? 11˚. awesome, huh? yeah, I bet you think so...since most of you are not here.

This is how I feel:

On a warmer note, I am sitting in the Hart building doing hw, real nice and toasty. But I have to walk outside at some point. I'm trying not to think about that right now.

So, I am currently on 3 rec co-ed sports teams. Futsal (soccer with a teeny ball), volleyball, and basketball. We have a soccer game tonight at 10. I know, its kind of late to be playing soccer. Oh well, we are in college right? Not that that has anything to do with playing soccer at 10 o'clock at night, but whatever.

The real purpose of this post was to tell you how freakin cold it is here. I got a little carried away. Time to finish hw and play soccer!

ciao.

Here's to the man who...

- helped give me life
- pays for my school
- takes me shopping
- gives me a place to live
- loved me through hell
- calls once a week "just to chat"
- taught me to laugh at myself, to be grateful, to learn from my mistakes, to remember who I am, to not be quick to judge, and to control my temper (even though I fail sometimes)
- stood behind me when I needed it
- made multiple visits/wrote many letters/made many calls to my schools over the years in my behalf
- took me on nice vacations, even when I was a butt
- always, without failing, finds some sort of "life threatening" activity to do on all those vacations and somehow convinces us all to participate
- who gave me a biological loyalty to SDSU (idk if that grammar is correct, but you get it)
- showed patience with me in the worst of times (practicing times tables and all other math related activities, through my teenage years, etc)
- told me when I was out of line or being ridiculous
- chose to raise me in the gospel, with a sure knowledge of its truth

and......

.............

who bought that kitchen aid I love so much!

I love you D.

(you are probably going to kill me for this last picture. but I couldn't resist. Its on Facebook, so I figured it is safe on my blog. Which less people see)
